Structural Design Engineer

Job Summary:

Senior Structural Design Engineers are responsible for the design and construction of buildings and structures that are safe, durable, and capable of withstanding environmental and human-induced forces They also focus on enhancing the structural integrity of existing buildings, ensuring they meet safety standards

Duties & Responsibilities:

• Analyze configurations of the basic structural components of a building or other structure
• Calculate the pressures, stresses and strains that each component, such as a beam etc, will experience from other parts of the structure due to human use or environmental pressures such as

• Select appropriate construction materials, considering the strength of various materials, e g., concrete, steel and brick, to see how their inclusion may necessitate a change of structural design.
• Liaise with other designers, including architects, to agree on safe designs and their fit with the aesthetic concept of the construction.
• Examine structures at risk of collapse and advising how to improve their structural integrity, such as recommending removal or repair of defective parts or rebuilding the entire structure.
• Obtaining planning and/or building regulations approval.
• Make drawings, specifications and computer models of structures for buildings.
• Apply expert knowledge of the forces that act on various structures
• Use computers and computer-aided design (CAD) technology & other related applications for simulation purposes
• Choose appropriate materials, such as concrete, steel, or precast, to meet design requirements
• Check & understand scope of work in accordance with project contracts & documents
• Giving progress reports to clients and senior managers
• Guide & help other Structural engineers when & where needed
• Create detailed drawings, specifications, and computer models of structures for buildings.
• Ensure that designs are cost-effective by the implementation of value engineering
• Coordinates Structural Design with all other design disciplines, including architects, to agree on safe designs and their fit with the aesthetic concept of the construction.
• Utilize computer-aided design (CAD) technology and other relevant applications for simulation and analysis purposes
• Review and understand the scope of work in accordance with project contracts and documentation.
• Provide progress reports to clients and senior managers
• Mentor and guide other structural engineers as needed.
• Provide the support and cooperation in regards to the Quality department requirements and Audits
• Provide the support and cooperation in regards to the Business development & tenders management activities when requested
• To ensure, Implement, Maintain quality, safety and environmental systems in compliance with ISO 9001, 14001 and 45001 standards
• Provide the support and cooperation in regards to the Quality, Health, Safety and Environmental department requirements and Audits.
• To Report and record the QHSE dept. non-conformities and in coordination with OHSE dept for
• Identifying, evaluating, and controlling hazards and risks in the workplace, ensuring compliance with relevant legislation, and promoting a culture of quality, health, safety & environmental within the
• Understanding, support and follow the waste management system
• Coordinate and contact the organization ERT team during in emergency case
• Record, report the incidents and near misses to the management and QHSE dept.

Education & Experience:

• Bachelors degree in Civil Engineering
• Min. 10-15 years of experience
• Must possess UPDA

• Proficient in engineering software (e.g., AutoCAD, Civil 3D, Revit)
